“Shawn Kemp is anything but a little kid on the court”. He was a tenacious beast averaging 14.6 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and 1.2 blocks per game. Kemp played a total of 14 years in the NBA. He played for four different teams: Seattle Supersonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trailblazers, and Orlando Magic. Not to mention he was a six time NBA All-star, he made the All NBA Second Team three consecutive years in a row. Kemp was a part of the United States Olympic Team of 1994, who played in the Fiba World Championship.

“The three things I will focus on will be childhood, college, and career. The first thing I will focus is Shawn Kemp’s childhood. Shawn Kemp was born in Elkhart, Indiana on November 26th 1969. Elkhart is a small city close to South Bend, Indiana. It is a small city but however is relatively big in the Chicago basketball country. Shawn began taking basketball serious at a young age. He had an older sister, who was talented and motivated Shawn to be better than her. Kemp’s childhood was filled with turmoil. His parents got divorced when he was only in the kindergarten. He had to sit out his freshman year at the University of Kentucky. Could you imagine, being that talented not being able to display it? He had transferred to Trinity Valley Community College in Texas. After the first semester he took advice from a former coach, and declared to the NBA. Kemp had been criticized heavily for the decision he made. Not many people declared for the NBA draft in his time, and for the few who did, they had little success in the NBA. Safe to say Kemp college career was little to nothing. That’s impeccable, knowing he made it to the NBA without having a chance to develop his game in
