Playing Years Back in the 1982, Jim Harbaugh started his new football career, for the University of Michigan Wolverines. Unfortunately Jim was redshirted his first year in the NCAA and the following three years weren't the biggest success. In 1983 Harbaugh only played 3 games at the quarterback position and in 1984 was his first year to start but ended up breaking his arm. The most efficient passer, winning honorable mention in the big ten, lead the team to 10-1-1 season in 1985. Phenomenal efforts by jim that year having 145-of-227 passes for 1,976 yards and 18 touchdowns.(The Bell) That season was successful but 1986 was his final year at the University of Michigan and making his marks there for sure. Receiving the Big Ten player of the year and Michigan's most valuable player, even finishing third in the heisman trophy balloting. Led the Big Ten in total offensive and pass efficiency and finished second nationally in pass efficiency. His great years at Michigan University lead him to a successful career in the NFL. The chicago bears picked Jim Harbaugh 26th overall in the first round of the 1987 NFL draft. Jim made himself known as a leader of the college level. Stanford's football program was turned around 1-11 prior to Harbaugh's arrival.
