He loved everything about it – the cords, the way it sounded, everything. It touched him in a way that no other music did. When he was only 14 years old, Jimi went to see Elvis Presley and that is when he knew he wanted to play the guitar. Throughout the following year, he saved enough money to make his dream come true and went and bought a guitar. With his talent, he went on to play for two bands, the “Rocking Kings” and the “Tomcats.” In 1961, Jimi decided to join the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Ord to achieve his training.
