Jimmie Rodgers (1897-1933) is one of the greatest music oriented singers with the guitar as his most preferred was born outside meridian , Mississippi on September 8, 1897 to James Charles Rodgers. He grew up travelling due to the works of his father who was a worker on a mobile railroad. However, his life was hindered greatly following the death of his mother which occurred when he was aged six. He grew up always interested in believing in music as one of his career which saw him take on music as a career after giving up on railroad works explained by health problems which enveloped tuberculosis and the works on railroad could only worsen the disease. He sparked off his career of singing in 1924 with traveling shows, medicine shows and other very many productions which later enabled him to make his first performance on radio Asheville in North Carolina and made his first appearance recording in Bristol, Virginia. His reign of six years ended in 1933 with a record of over 100 songs. He got an infection of tuberculosis which ultimately ended his life. …show more content…
As a Mississippi native, he was always willing to play all forms of music using his guitar and this made him not to fit into the mold of the early country music. His guitar playing alongside his sweet parrot voice was independent of the farm life and all issues to do with mountains and thus portrayed himself as the man of the world.
