Valentine decided to become a more moral man and his actions showed his intentions. Jimmy Valentine turned from his bad habits by becoming more honest, helping others, and by falling in love with someone he wanted to be better for.

Jimmy Valentine become a man with better morality by becoming more truthful. Jimmy started a business the correct way; he started a shoe shop on his own and actually earned profit the right way; instead of stealing from other people Jimmy earned money for himself by providing items other people needed specifically shoes. While Jimmy was at a bank with his fiancee with her family and their friends he helped rescue a little girl. While the adults were talking a little girl was accidentally locked in a new vault that had yet to have its combination set. Without a combination set it was impossible to reopen; Jimmy risked himself getting discovered by the authorities to rescue the little girl from the vault.
