Medical Terminology is important because it is the primary language and communication between healthcare professional and the healthcare industry. It is essential to learn medical terminology in order to effectively provide the proper care and treatment to the patient. As I mention before medical terminology is the primary language amongst physician and healthcare providers. This language is standard and helps physicians to determine how they will diagnosis the patient’s illness accurately. Because professionals are treating patient’s day in and day out at all hours they are also overwhelmed with patient’s records and forms. This is where they use their medical term to abbreviate making documentation easier and with less coding errors on the patient’s records. It is very important they know there medical terms because if a physician or any healthcare professional were to incorrectly code, document or communicate information to the patient incorrectly this would have a major impact on the patient’s health or treatment. Also it would impact the patients services provided to them from the insurance company; if there was a coded error because a medical term was abbreviated incorrectly. The insurance may not provide or cover the patient’s treatments. Which would cause a patient to pay out of cost. But a major error in communication or coding of a patient’s medical record where it cause a patient to be miss diagnosis or cause of death can be a grand lawsuit to the medical physician
