For all you successors out there, you need to fail. John Carroll is very blunt with what he says. He uses a metaphor to help get his point across. John is sarcastic in one part which helps keep your attention and it makes a lot of sense. In Failure is a Good Thing it explains why people should fail and not succeed all the time. Everyone should expect to fail and learn from it rather than being perfect all the time.

In the first three sentences of Failure is a Good Thing it says “Last week, my granddaughter started kindergarten, and, as is conventional, I wished her success. I was lying. What I actually wish for her is failure. I believe in the power of failure” (Carroll).
