John Charles Fremont was born in Savannah, Georgia on January 21st 1813. When he was a child, he lived in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated in the Science Department in college. He received a civilian post as teacher of mathematics. He was second lieutenant in the U.S. Corps of Topographical Engineers. He joined a two-year military observation with a French Scientist named Joseph N. Nicolette. When he returned, he met the senator’s daughter, Jessie. He ran away with her in 1841. Within the next 12 years he led five expeditions. He lived in California for a while, later he became one of their state senators. In the civil war, he was given command of the Union Army’s Western Department. He was removed a hundred days later. Fremont
