Rough Draft #2 Goldfish spend their lives limited to a miniature home, filled with only the essentials to live life. Goldfish do not have the opportunities to swim wherever they want, but are sheltered in their bowl. However, open water fish have more abilities to create an environment for themselves that enhances their lifestyle. These cold blooded travelers can swim for thousands of miles in any direction, without worry of hitting a wall. John Elway, however, has not been limited in this way due to his opportunities that his father pushed on him. He was gifted the life of being a strong, Great White Shark because of his family, friends, and recruiters. In the small town in Washington that Elway grew up in, little action happened. Without the job opportunity that Jack Elway received, John Elway may have not been noticed by the same amount, or same importance of recruiters. Luckily, his transfer from Washington to Granada Hills High School impacted him in ways that are needed to make it to the NFL. Granada Hills High School is a charter school known for sports and many recruitments are made from that school. This automatically puts Elway in a position to be noticed by someone important. Also, charter schools are much smaller with more talent. Elway had more opportunities to play because there were less players on the team, therefore he had more time to show and practice his talents. He wanted to win more than anyone else on the team, and proved it to all watchers. In an interview with John Elway, he states, ¨Through a career you never know how many chances you're going to get to be world champ… I feel very lucky to have a third shot in the Super Bowl, I just want to build and take advantage of it¨ (Van Horn). He explains his need to win, and the achievements that he will fight
