The book The Crucibles takes place in 1692 at Salem,Massachusetts. It’s about these crazy lunatic people claiming and blaming others and saying that they are witches. Then the judges of Salem would decide if they would get hanged or burned to death if they don’t confess to being a witch. and then they wouldn’t be killed but they would lose their property and it wouldn’t go to their family but to other people. There are many characters in the Crucible but John Proctor is one of the main characters.Procter is a religious man and he is also a cheater and protective of his family. We are what we always were in Salem, but now the little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom, and common vengeance writes the law! This warrants vengeance! I’ll not give my wife over to vengence!” (Miller ,77) In my opinion I don’t think Proctor was going to let them take his wife without him putting up a fight until Elizabeth said to him, “John-I think I must go.
