John Wesley Blassingame is a scholar that is African American who looked through one section of society that historians have ignored with stereotypes. Blassingame was a professor at Yale University of America and Africa studies. Blassingame was the brightest historians of slavery in the Antebellum Plantation in the south. He was a prolific scholar that editorial boards He held taught at Howard University and is also a prolific scholar who served as a contributing editor for journals such as Black Scholar and as a member of the editorial boards of Southern studies and the Journal of Negro History. For the south what helped them with the economy was cotton plantation. Blassingame talks about that Americans at one of the most common stereotypes in American history and it is the word Sambo. This image is simple-minded, and the black man dates back at least as far as the colonization of America. Sullivan explains that a person that has the most power is going to be rewarded and the individual action is going to be responsible for determining behavior.
