Johnny Cade was my best friend. He was the second youngest in our gang, me being the youngest. He never had a real family, his dad would beat him up and his alcoholic mother doesn't care about him. We were like his real family. He considers everyone in our gang as brothers and we thought of him as our gang's pet.

He’s loyal, always helping his friends no matter what risk it takes, he saved my life by killing one of the Socs, despite how much he hates fighting. He’s very respectful to everyone in the gang. Even if he’s a shy and quiet guy, who also happens to be short, he’s braver and mentally stronger than everyone in our gang, and everyone in our gang respects that. He looks up to Dallas Winston as an idol. He can continue to live strong without a family. Johnny needs to follow someone's footstep and he chose Dallas. On the other hand, Johnny is nice and caring, that even Dallas loves him.

The best memory with Johnny is when we fled the East Side of town after the murder of Bob Sheldon, a member of the Socs. We were only able to flee because of our fellow buddy, who got killed by the police the day Johnny passed away, Dallas Winston. He gave us the directions and lent us some money and a pistol. The first thought that came into my head is Johnny is going to go save the children inside of the church, and sure enough, he jumped out of the car and ran towards the church. Never even doubting himself. I went chasing after him, with Dallas hoping off the car a little while later. He risked his life to save the children, jumping into burning hot fire. We went inside the church and passed the children to Dallas who was outside the window. When the roof was about to collapse, he pushed me out towards Dallas, then the roof fell on him.
