America was born from the rebellion of the new world, so its no surprise that when every the country as a collective has a problem with the government they rebel against it to create change. The movie Across the Universe fallows a group of young adults in the midst of the 1960’s rebellion against racial inequality and the Vietnam War. Brought together because they rebelled against their previous we find this group of misfits brought together to spread love and rebel in their own way. The main question of the piece is, “what would you risk for your cause?” Each character makes decisions that contribute to the cause. Sadie makes music to spread the word of peace. Jojo makes music to forget the pain of losing a child, Jude creates art to beautifully show his cause, Lucy joins …show more content…
She starts off as a high school girl in love with someone who gets killed in the Vietnam War. This turns her life upside down and creates her original distain for the war. After this incident she moves to New York to live with her brother Max. She originally tells her mom, “You know me, I don’t even smoke. The bug, bad city isn’t gonna get me.” ( Across the Universe) Soon after this she joins the rebellious world of Rock and roll and peace. She starts learning more about herself while falling in love with the hansom British character Jude while rebelling against her old self, learning to spread peace and love. She soon is found at a cross roads when her brother Max is also sent to Vietnam. She decided to join a extremist activist group against the war stating, “ I would lay down in front of a tank, if it would end this war and bring Max home,” ( Across the Universe) she spirals down into this world losing the peacefulness that use to surround her. Once she realizes she’s lost what’s truly important to her, Jude and the peace, she finds them to be reunited once
