One of the strategies that Swift uses is irony. He likes to crack jokes about his own words after he has proposed something. Another strategy that is obvious is that he openly says that he hasn’t the slightest interest in following through with this plan no matter how necessary it may appear. Swift ridicules his own plans at certain points. He also hopes that no one will object to his plan knowing damn well that most people who read this will think he is crazy. Examples of irony that can be seen include Swift indicating that a statue should be built in honor of the person who can save the Nation of Ireland. Which could even be Swift himself.
