On May 15, 2017 I interviewed Jonathan Trujillo about what it means to be American to him. Jonathan is a hard working person and lives with his family in Anaheim, California. His everyday life is working with his father in a plumbing career. During his free time, Jonathan attends college in Santa Ana. Jonathan’s point of view of being American is equivocal compare to many others. Furthermore, Jonathan comprehends that being American himself is normal, and is not really a benefit also. According to Jonathan Trujillo, a hard working plumber and a college student, being American means a literal answer of which someone born in America, which is a citizen. Moreover, not necessarily being patriotic for this answer. About the word America, Jonathan thinks of the country like the United States and the North and South Continents of America. Jonathan feels that people with power or money can get away with things more easily. He additionally stated that there are loopholes and people abuse the system within the government. As there could be numerous solutions to make an American society more polite, Jonathan stated that people are more polite when they are being recorded, but not genuinely polite. A way to get people to get along is having a more mixed community, so that people are more accepting to each other. But that happens on its own and can’t be forcefully integrated he stated. Within the nation, there are many types of ethnicities and religion that receive discrimination. But should these kind of unique people be protected?
