In ‘Abuela Invents the Zero’ by Judith Ortiz Cofer, the main character, Connie, was stuck between her want to socially accepted, and her job as her Abuela’s granddaughter. She unfortunately chose what she wanted to do over what was right. According to the passage, “my grandmother is lost”(Ortiz-Cofer 14).
