Civil Disobedience: Julia Lorraine "Butterfly" Hill
An act of civil disobedience is knowingly breaking a law or governmental demand as a form of peaceful protest. In order to save the California redwoods, which were being destroyed at an alarming rate by the Pacific Lumber Company in the 1980s, a woman lived in a tree for 738 days. She faced harsh weather conditions, receptibility to infections, and forceful attempts to be brought down by the company but refused to leave-to abandon what she believed in. Julia Lorraine "Butterfly" Hill spent over two years performing this act of resistance, which is admirable to say the least.Quite similarly to Hill, Antigone, a character in a play from 441 BC, performed a direct act of civil disobedience against her King because she belived she should follow

"Earth First! Decided that Hill should leave Luna since the organization felt it didn’t have the resources to continue supporting the action and they worried and harm that befell Hill would reflect badly on the organization."
