Who are the Top Ten Basketball players that ever lived? The number one of the top ten goes to Michael Jordan. Other Basketball players that made the list are Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Shaquille O’Neal, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, and Julius Erving. These Basketball legends are in the top ten because of their skills, attitude and stats. To begin with, the tenth player counting down is Julius Erving. Julius Erving also known as “Dr. J” was born February 22, 1950. Erving is a retired basketball player who helped popularize a modern style of play that emphasizes leaping and playing above the rim. Erving played on the ABA (American Basketball Association) and later helped merge to the NBA (National Basketball Association). Erving won three championships, four Most Valuable Player awards three scoring titles in the ABA for the Virginia Squires and New York Nets. Erving played for the Philadelphia 76ers after the ABA. Erving career points in ABA/NBA were 30,026 points combined. Erving is also known for slam dunking from the free throw line in Slam Dunk Contests. Wilton Norman "Wilt" Chamberlain was born August 21, 1936 – October 12, 1999. Chamberlain holds numerous NBA records in scoring and center rebounding legend. He is the only player to score 100 points in a single NBA game and average 40 to 50 points a game in a season. Chamberlain also won scoring, nine field goal percentage, and eleven rebounding titles.
