In this paper, I will write about how crime theories may explain the causes of juvenile crime by using as an example the case of Nehemiah Griego. I will be using information from online newspaper, some videos that explain the case as well as notes from the class that explains the theories. I will first talk about the case, afterwards, I’ll explain two theories and say why are they consistent with the case or that are inconsistent with the case.

On January 19, 2013, Nehemiah Griego killed his family, he obtained the gun from his parents' closet and then kill his mother first, then he proceeded to kill his brother and sisters after and finally he waited for his father to come from work and kill him. Nehemiah said that he had been having suicidal and homicidal thoughts. He pleaded guilty in October to two counts of second-degree murder for his parents’ deaths and three counts of child abuse resulting in death, which his attorney said showed he had taken responsibility for the crime. Genetic theory is a theory by Wilson, Herstein and Sheldon and implies that because of a biological issue ( that might run in the family) someone might engage in a criminal act. Nehemiah Griego was diagnosed with schizoaffective and schizophrenia disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and some learning disabilities, Griego has mental health issues and hallucinations since he was young but he is not the only one in his family suffering of this, Nehemiah father had a troubled life when young and because he works 13 years as a jail minister he became angry and bitter often having hallutinations , genetic theory might explain that the reason of Nehemiah Griego act was that he suffer from mental disabilities and had no control on them because it runs in the
