Immigration. It can mean a lot of different things based on the background the person comes from. At Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island one will find many international students. Many of the U.S. Students will make friendships with these international students. So when JWU Goes Global has a section dedicated to immigration you would think it would case a spark of interest, however it just just the oposit. JWU Goes Global chose to talk about immigration, however when the topic of immigration comes up, it not only is talking just about immigration but now the topic of political stands, economical background, and the family heritage comes into play. When these topics are brought up along with immigration it becomes personal and sensitive. There is one rule of thumb when at social gatherings, never bring up politics, and its because of the sensitivity of the topic. When bringing up immigration, you also bring up politics. With this generation, generation X and Y, tend to have text messages to be sent to there phone with the latest update, so you think reverting back to my first question would be a positive response when in reality not only are they getting text messages of the news sent to their phone but also what the latest football news is, and what the Kardashians just wore. Its sad to say that college students just don't really care enough to sit there and read word for word what is happening, they may read a sentence or two but thats it. In the words of a college student, they don't have time for that. So if college kids don't have time to read the news why are they going to create time to go listen about immigration, which is associated with politics?
