K-Pop has recently adopted influences from Western rap music with recent collaborations with Western artists like will.i.am, who collaborated with K-Pop rapper, CL. Rap music originated from African-American culture as a means of spreading political injustices. In 1992, The Rodney King incident parked a series of riots in Los Angeles, now called the Los Angeles insurrection. During this time, many African-American musicians developed and used rap as a medium to voice their feelings and opinions.
