a. I believe that what happened to Kalief Browder was the result of race. I believe this because I do believe that race does play a huge role in the criminal justice system. In the case of Kalief Browder, he would never have been in Riker’s Island if it weren’t for his race. I say this because originally, the victim said that he was robbed only days in advance and then changed his answer to a few months earlier. I truly believe that if this case occurred against a defendant from a wealthy and white neighborhood, then the defendant wouldn’t have sat in jail for so long. Since the defendant was black in a black neighborhood, the employees at Riker’s Island knew they could take advantage of his race and class. Hence, I don’t think that this case
