According to Kalmer translaguaging is when a person knows two different languages and feels like they are in no men's land because they do not feel completely whole in neither language and people from either side do not seem to understand them (Kalmar, 2015). The students in Albuquerque Sign Language Academy are in a unique school because they can feel part of two communities in one. There are students that speak only sign language and other students are bilinguals (sign language and English). Yet, in the outside of the school those bilingual students might feel like they are in no men's land. Sign language is a minority language compare to English, it might be difficult for those students to have a more personal connections with other people
