Kaposi Sarcoma is a type of cancer that would normally originate in the cells of the body that line the lymph’s or blood vessels (www.cancer.org) This disease or cancer normally would appear as a tumor on the skin or on the mucosal surfaces, intended as the inside of mouth. The Kaposi sarcoma tumors can also appear in different parts of the body including the following, lymph nodes, in the lungs and the digestive system. The most common type of Kaposi sarcoma is AIDS; this would appear in patients that are HIV positive. A patient with HIV is never automatically diagnosed with AIDS. The patient is diagnosed with AIDS once the HIV infection has continued to destroy the immune system of the patient. Once their immune system is destroyed they are no longer able to fight off the common cold which allows the patients’ health to downgrade fast. This is usually not a fast process but once it has started the patient sets up major illnesses that are normally life-threatening including Kaposi Sarcoma. …show more content…
