Ashton Knapp, a senior Elementary Education major from Tallassee is the Chapter President for Kappa Delta Sorority. She said she loves that her position entails much more than can be seen.
“Not only do I lead chapter meetings, but I also over see our executive board as well as appointed officers throughout the chapter,” said Knapp. “I am responsible for organizing events within our sorority and the community. I also communicate with headquarters frequently including a bi weekly phone call with a chapter services coordinator.” According to Knapp, being the president of a sorority can be challenging, but she loves being the person her sisters can count on.

She said she looks forward to leadership opportunities and involvement with the school system that I she will be teaching in. “ I plan to teach for several years, and establish myself as a leader in the school I work for before returning to school to get my master's degree in administration,” said Knapp.
Knapp said her greatest accomplishment is being voted by her sisters to hold the Presidential position.
“ As an incoming freshman, I never dreamed that I would be given the honor to be the face of Kappa Delta on the campus of Troy University, in our community, and nationally,” said Knapp.
According to Knapp, to be Kappa Delta President, candidates must serve in a different position on council before having the opportunity to run for president.
“I previously held the appointed office of Social Chair as well as the council position VP-Standards,” said Knapp.
She said communication skills, time management, organization, approachability, determination, flexibility, and being unbiased are key character traits a leader should posses.
“Kappa delta strives for that which is honorable beautiful and highest,” said Knapp. “I would love to see our next president truly live out or open motto.”
She said her biggest advice to the next Kappa Delta President would be: “Learn the importance of humbling yourself before others and do not expect anything from a sister that you would not do
