The topic of Marxism is explored in the second chapter of the book Desire for Race. More specifically, the connection between knowledge, race, and class is brought up and discussed. The ideas of René Descartes, Richard Miles, Oliver Cox, and Karl Marx were compiled and compared against each other. One of the main arguments that occurred throughout the entire chapter was that race on its own is not a feasible ideology and that race in itself may not even be “real.” Another argument was that people need to see reality for what it is and not for what it is not; in other words, we should not make the mistake of labeling something as racial reality instead of economic reality, etc. This reading brought about a different point of view that I myself
