Katniss Everdeen In The Hunger Games

Director Gary Ross released the movie in 2012, and the whole movie is based on Suzanne Collins novel, “the Hunger Games”. Jennifer Lawrence plays the main character, Katniss Everdeen, and Josh Hutcherson plays Peeta Mellark.
The genre is a mix of science fiction, action and romance. The movie is science fiction because it contains a lot of settings and technologies that theoretically can happen in the future. There is also a little romance in the movie between Katniss, Peeta and Gale.

The movie is mainly about one story, the story of Katniss Everdeen and the Hunger Games. Katniss lives in a place called Panem, and the nation of Panem is divided into 12 different districts where the first district is the capital. Each year the capital hosts “the Hunger Games”, a game where children and teenagers are forced to fight to their deaths in an arena. Two tributes from each of the 12 districts are selected by lottery and forced to join the game. The 24 tributes have to kill each other in order to survive, and there can only be one winner. Katniss

She is a young girl, but far more mature than her age would suggest. She keeps things to herself and is private about her feelings. It becomes easy to love and empathise with Katniss because of her kindness and empathy. She is a great hunter, and this is something that comes to great use in the games. In one of the episodes in the movie, a young girl is shot dead by one of the tributes. Katniss stays with her, sings for her and later covers her dead body in white flowers. This scene shows Katniss’s deep compassion and love towards others. Katniss is a character that is easy to like and easy to root for. She is brave and willing to risk her life for the ones she love, something that certainly shows when she volunteers as tribute. Jennifer Lawrence plays the role of Katniss perfectly. She doesn`t have to explain how her character is feeling because you can tell just by looking at her
