The video “Integrative Family Therapy” with Kenneth V. Hardy involves a nineteen year old young girl name Erica and her mother. The conversation covered topics to includes, Erica being arrested and jailed for smashing her boyfriend’s car window with a baseball bat and blaming her mother for not helping her with her driver’s license. Kenneth V. Hardy used his social and communication skills as a therapist to create an open-minded atmosphere for both Erica and her mother to discuss each side of their stories, while acknowledging the complexity of the situation by bringing the broader social context into the therapy room.

The mother also took responsibility for the areas in which was lacking as a parent as it is essential to the change process resulting in the success of therapy. Erica on the other hand did not replicate the same behavior/mannerism. The impression Erica gave during the session includes being immature, non-chalant towards her actions from the past, non-compliant to change, and finding an excuse for her actions.
Interactive family therapy would be vital whilst working with family since it aims to promote the entire healing of the family unit as well as ensuring that all levels of each family member mental, physical and emotional health needs are met. IFT encourages the client to commit to themselves to self-exploration and open to identifying what factors in their life are perpetuating problems, and/or are causing current concerns. Consequently, enables them to better focus on the fears and hurts that limit their psychological freedom, and recognize specific triggers that may be causing disruptive patterns of
