Keystone Pipeline Project “This pipeline is a critical infrastructure project for the energy security of the United States and for strengthing the American economy” (Russell). The pipeline runs from Alberta Canada to Nebraska, delivering over 830,000 barrels a day. There are two sides to this issue, to either approve or disapprove the Keystone pipeline, and by researching this topic I will form an opinion. The Keystone pipeline project will be the safest and most advanced oil pipeline in North American. It is a proposed 1,179 mile pipe that will run from the oil stands in Alberta, Canada, to Steele City, Nebraska, where it would join an existing pipe. There is belief believe that Americans are on tract to having energy independence through fossil fuels in the future, thus making even President Obama’s opinion not sold on the pipeline resulting in more energy independence. “The free market is upside down as every energy proposal from the administration punishes coal, gas, and oil so wind, solar and biofuels can survive” (Lankford). This statement proves that the project is in route for success in having more energy independence, the administration is just unwilling to let it happen so they are finding every way possible to stop it. My decision is to support the project. There are indeed points of problems like the possible climate change, environmental harm, spills, tar stands, electricity, and people simply not wanting it. I still thought it was not a dramatic enough of an issue to be concerned about. With the technology we have today most of the concerns and be fixed and if they can not its because of natural reasons that no one can help form happening. Lastly with the new jobs, energy independence, having most of it already completed, reduced gas prices, and the national security, I find it very difficult to not be in support the
