The colonists and King George had a disagreement over England's right to control the American colonies. This became a grievance leading to the Declaration of Independence. King George took away natural rights of the colonists so they had to take a stand for what they believed in.
One of the reasons colonists believed they had the right leave England was because King George started the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is when you want to buy any piece of paper you have to put a stamp on it. This made the colonists very mad because it cost a lot of money and they didn’t have that kind of money right out of their pockets. Soon after the Act was released the colonists boycotted and sent a petition redress they also would tar and feather the tax collectors.
