King Philip's War was one of the bloodiest wars that took place in American history. The war erupted in the New England Colonies during 1675. War began to ravage the colonies of Massachusetts, Rhode island, and Plymouth. This rebellious attempt was the last endeavour from Native Americans in southern New England to expel the English colonists. King Philip, also know as Metacom, was born in 1638 and died on August 12, 1676. Metacom was son of Massasoit and the younger brother of Wamsutta. Massasoit and Wamsutta had previously been Sachem, Chief, until their death. After the death of his brother Wamsutta Metacom became his successor as Sachem. King Philip had attempted to keep the relations with the English that his father had spent years establishing and stabilizing. He and his brother had even received English names. On the other hand, many Natives in the New England colonies began to depend on the English goods for an advantage against neighboring tribes (King Philip’s War). “The problem was simple. When the English first arrived, they offered some Native American tribes leverage against neighboring unfriendly tribes.
