King Tutankhamen, is one of the most famous pharaoh today and was one of the youngest pharaoh to ever rule Egypt. His parentage is much debated but, it is believed that he was the son of the pharaoh; Akhenaten and princess Kiya. After Akhenaten death, Tutankhamen was crowned King in Memphis at the age of nine. This was around the time he changed his name for Tutankhaten which meant "Living Image of the Aten" to Tutankhamun which meant "Living Image of the Amun". Tutankhamun also known as King Tut lived his early life in the city of Akhenaten and was very young at the time till his untimely death at the age of 19. The once unimportant pharaoh became famous today after the discovery of his tomb by an Egyptologist by the name of Howard Carter. According to the article “Tutankhamun” from the site “Discovering Ancient Egypt” the 31 year veteran Egyptologist; Howard Carter, was hired to perform direct archaeologist digs in Egypt. Carter started digging in the valley of kings in 1917 after interruptions from World War I. Carter only found small items and a small cache of funerary items bearing Tutankhamun’s name. This motivated Carter more and he was convinced there was still undiscovered items to be found. Discovery take passion and time and that’s exactly what carter had and continued to pursue this vision. In 1922 Carter finally reaped the rewards of his dedication. Carter discovered the entrance of Tutankhamun’s tomb after four days of digging at the base of Rameses IV tomb.
