In a film that involves having to solve a crime, it is rare for it to be comical. Occasionally they are made to engage the audiences on who is the murderer and when will they catch him/her. In Kiss Kiss Bang Bang directed by Shane Black, is a comedy, crime, and mystery movie. Black finds ways to not only have the audience “walk through” the film with them, nevertheless also have a nice laugh. Black uses voice-over, mid-shots, and parallel action in order to help improve the viewers understanding of the main characters Robert Downey (Harry), Val Kilmer (Gay Perry), and Michelle Monaghan (Harmony).
As the movie begins with a child at a fair and Harry as a child being a magician, is acting a show that involves having Harmony in a cutting box.…show more content… Only due to, as Harry says, “Do you see any other narrators?” Perry will speak when he believes something was wrongly concluded, he missed something, or just for the sake of having something to say. In the beginning of the movie Harry is giving Harmony’s background and how she also ended up at a party. Harry informs the audience that what they may think of why she is wrong. Instead, she is there due to a huge robot and tells us he will inform us about it later. As Harry is giving her background information he realizes he never told us about the huge robot. Remarkably Harry interrupts the movie by pausing it and is reversing it to where he believes the story of the robot should have been. Harry says, “F*** this bad narrating,” and snaps to the robot story. When Perry and Harry continue speaking to each other, Harry meets Dexter (the host) and Perry tells him a little information about Dexter and his daughter. The movie gets interrupted by Harry when he realizes that should not have been there and he apologizes to the audience for interrupting the movie. When Harry meets Harmony at a club he goes back to the beginning of the movie and sounds irritated because “If you have been paying attention, I wouldn’t have to great no wonder.” Towards the end of the movie Perry that Black made the audience think was dead ends up alive.
