Aboard a Suzuki in 2009, Reed took second overall in Supercross after a heated rivalry with Stewart that culminated in a tense Vegas finale where Reed tried to boot Bubba off the track. Reed took consolation in the SX finish by dominating the ’09 motocross season after Stewart announced he would not compete in the outdoor Nationals.

Suzuki in late 2008.
Reed then defended his Australasian Supercross title aboard his new Monster Energy Kawasaki ride.

For 2010 Reed got things off to a rocky start when he took two DNFs in the first two Supercross rounds. The Aussie broke his hand in Phoenix, forcing him to the sidelines for the rest of the series. Determined for a comeback, Reed took the win in the opening moto of the 2010 MX season at Hangtown. However, it would be the highlight of the season as the two-time Supercross champ would see his results gradually worsen throughout the series. Reed was later diagnosed with a virus and pulled out of the 2010 Nationals, eventually finishing 11th overall. Reed and Kawasaki parted ways near the end of the season.

In 2011 the Aussie forged a new path for himself by creating his own team – TwoTwo Motorsports. Reed proved a quick study in his new role as team owner by posting consistent podiums throughout a challenging SX season.
