Koyaanisqatsi, directed by Godfrey Reggio, portrays how humans have become so dependent on technology and have lost touch with nature. He used distinctive types of music, along with scenes of the city and wilderness to show how nature was perceived to the 1980s population.
In the beginning of the film, an arid desert can be seen and shortly after, the sun is setting upon the hills and platforms in the desert, accompanied by grim music.
