In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, the main character, Montag, opens his eyes and realizes he is living in a world in which they are being controlled by technology and it will not end good. By burning the books, it takes away people’s freedom to read and enjoy a book. They are being limited and controlled to not use their creative side of the mind, which is used when reading. In Fahrenheit 451, the theme is about freedom, control, and lack of freedom.
At the beginning, a plot point is when Montag encounters a woman named Clarisse, and this can show how Clarisse will be a big part of changing Monatg’s life, and he does not even know it. Clarisse is the main spark to Montag opening his eyes; event after event made Montag realize what terrible world he is living in, however, Clarisse is the one who sparked that flame. And because his prediction is very close to what we actually have, we can say that our attitudes and decision making will change for the worse. Something, like the government or technology, will have control over us and will make us not think for ourselves, and some can agree that that has already happened in our time. It is astonishing that an author writes about this world that surely sounds foolish and impossible, but, the way our lives are going right now; it may be predicting our near future, if we do not act upon it.
