In requiring students to wake up early for classes, schools deprive their students of necessary sleep. This argument is successfully displayed within the visual as it uses the incorporation of both text and image in order to highlight the most important aspect of this claim: students lack of proper sleep causes them many issues including falling asleep in class.

By creating this visual, I was attempting to make a complex argument more along the lines of purely persuasive rhetoric rather than the evidence of science towards the concept of starting the school day at times that are able to benefit the education of prosperity. This visual is a clear example of such a concept due to it’s evident message being portrayed literally and figuratively. The image depicted is that of a school boy who appears asleep at a desk; his book is seen open as if he had been reading before dozing off. The boy appears peaceful, almost serene, in his sleep; the work displayed below him is much less detailed than his form, illustrating the fact that his resting takes priority over his study. By seeing this drawing, viewers will consider their stances on the relationship between work and sleep and how the two intertwine. Along with this, powerful and colored text against a black and white background creates new focal points in place of previously empty space. The contrast between the bright coloring and bold font of the text and the softness of the drawing is able to catch the eye of its viewer almost instantly. The utilization of such powerful text is able to capitalize upon the message conveyed by the image alone as it stands out among the composition and clearly communicates the ideals and beliefs of students, parents and
