In Shakespeare’s play, Macbeth is the protagonist of the story. He is presented the opportunity to become king, however in order to do so he has to murder King Duncan. Macbeth is very hesitant about this action. Lady Macbeth, however, is supportive of him going through with his plan. She even uses beguile tactics such as the coward and the love card to convince Macbeth to go through with the murder of King Duncan.
Lady Macbeth states, “But screw your courage to the sticking-place, and we’ll not fail.” This first statement demonstrates how Lady Macbeth uses the coward card to convince Macbeth to kill the king.
