Throughout Acts 1 and 2 of the play, Macbeth, the reality of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth's thoughts are masked by the way that they appear to the audience and other characters. What is real is disguised by what is fake and is used to manipulate what is seen by the audience and other characters.
