Rivers, lakes, ponds, and other waterways are the foundations of life and the construction of civilizations. Lake LeMay is a center stage beauty for a developing neighborhood in Eagan. Despite the lake's beauty and the effort to keep it healthy, I have noticed many infuriating ignorances while studying my lake. The water of the lake was still despite the rushing wind all around. The water glistened pale gray haze as the golden rays of the sun danced across it’s surface. The hills surrounding the lake were lush of greens, reds, and oranges. Atop the hills were crisp black evergreens who serrated the pillowy sky. Despite it’s surroundings, the lake was anything but quiet. The air tasted like a fresh rainfall or morning dew drops placed upon blades of grass. The bench where I sat to absorb all that surrounded me was mossy and damp, it smelled like a cedar tree. The lake however smelled like the inside of a snail shell mixed with the fresh cool morning air. The grass was a bright green hiding the devouring mud beneath the blades, the shore however was flat scattered with various stones and sand particles. I observed various forms of life at my lake since I was an animal specialist in my group. My partner Zoe and I collected dozens of macroinvertebrate with our dip net as well as fourteen fish with our seine net. The fish we collected were relatively small, and consisted of sunfish, crappies, and minnows. I didn’t observe any mammals on the lake other than plenty of humans who inhabited most of the
