Struggling days. Tough spirit. Racial lifestyle. Many African Americans had to face the struggle of living through a time where they act upon being hated. In the 1920s racism was a huge problem in the United States. Racism and segregation, most people believed it wasn’t the right thing and, people with different color skin should be able to live freely. Racism will end through the strength of the African American community and trying to make a difference just like Langston Hughes. He changed the way people look at African Americans because of the impact he created through his perseverance, influence of his language and style, and lastly the actions done by African American people impacted. His biggest impact of his people came from his perseverance and grit. He inspired other African Americans because he overcame all odds of trying to change the community with black culture while everyone was against him and many people were inspired by him making a change (Overview of (James) Langston Hughes). What he did for his community was that he showed them that they can overcome anything and there is always hope to make a difference. The inspiration caused many African Americans to take action and try to make a difference in their community. For example, many people started to write music, play instruments, write poetry, while some people even started to create jazz clubs, build black neighborhoods, and build a black school for offsprings of slaves. Hughes and his poems were so impactful to the black community that even Martin Luther King Jr used his words during his speech which showed how he represented African American people (200 Years of Afro- American Poetry ). Most people became inspired, they started to try and make a difference and trying to show that they can make a difference by making music, writing poetry, playing an instrument and more( Bevilacqua, Winifred Farrant. ). Many of the actions done by African Americans inspired by Langston Hughes affected the community in a big way. It affected the community because it got people thinking that they can make an impact so more people started to make a cultural difference in Harlem, eventually most of the community wanted to do the same. Many people started to attend the jazz clubs and poetry slams, presenting their poetry and music to everyone. Langston Hughes heavily impacted African Americans everywhere. Langston Hughes changed the perspective of African Americans because of the way he impacted them through the actions done by African Americans, the influence of his language and style, and lastly the impact he created through his perseverance. He made a difference in the world and he and many other African Americans thought they should bring an end to racism through the strength of the community.
