I honestly had no idea what to expect when I registered for the LASK 1001 course, It was almost the beginning of the semester and most of the classes I needed were all full, therefore my advisor suggested I take this course because she believed it would help me a lot since it was my first semester as a transfer student. I had always struggled with time management and procrastination, and also had problems with adapting my studies with work. I forgot deadlines for assignments, papers and projects; therefore I decided I needed to keep track of my classes, so I got a planner. With that planner, I was able to keep complete control over my classes, and knew the due dates for assignments. My study skills were at a level zero before taking this class because I had the habit of only studying a few days before major exams, and I ended up cramming rather than understanding the course work. However, it was difficult to adapt to both because I always came home tired from work and had no time to study, therefore I decided to cut down on my workload so I could find more time to study. After reviewing the course syllabus, for this semester, I realized that most of the topics to be discussed in class corresponded to certain skills I needed to fix. I have worked really hard on my time management skills and kept a planner writing down every due dates for readings, papers and projects. I improved my writing skills by drawing a schedule detailing specific days I would start writing and make sure to have it done before the due dates.
