Extra Credit: Last Man Standing Watching this video proved, in my opinion, the difficulties of running for any type of office. Running for governor, senate, judge, or president can put a lot of stress and attention on one person for extended periods of time. In the video, there was an example of one election for legislator in Texas in 2002. The republican representative was a 31 year old, Christian conservative and gifted campaigner named Rick Green. His opposing competitor for Texas legislator was an upstart 24 year old, Princeton graduate, and democrat Patrick Rose. The challenge set between these two proved that nothing stands still for too long in American Politics. It should’ve been apparent as to who would win the race starting from the beginning; however the ending proved to be different. The two representatives were voted for based on experience in the field and what they had to offer on the main issues set in Texas at the time. Patrick Rose was a young guy and lacked experience being a leader of any kind or holding power over multiple precincts. Many were scared of allowing a new set of eyes enter into legislation, only because it would cause confusion and possibly cause new problems. These people wanted someone who already knew what was happening rather than having to teach someone else of what was happening.
