The way that the society views law enforcement also plays a part in how the levels of crime vary. Law enforcement is all of the organs within the legal system that controls behaviour to maintain social control. The police is just one part of it that is seen by most people. In a developed country such as Australia the law enforcement may be taken more seriously and in a developing country it can be said that the people are not aware of how important law enforcement is. If properly used as a way to maintain social control in the country, chances are that it can reduce the level of crime.

As Maldives is not such a large country, but rather a modest island nation the need for a large army is not present in the country. Instead of increasing the amount of people that are enforcing the law, the government could improve the methods that are being used to maintain the crime rate so that law enforcement will be effective in controlling crime in a country. Some methods to implement this could be a conference that is aired nationwide by the Maldives Police Service. Many people would watch and if they were unable to, local newspapers would write articles about it. A method that would interest the youth would be an exhibition.
