In “The More Factor” by Lawrence Shames, Shames discusses how Americans have always grew up with the optimistic idea that they could always have more due to the countless frontiers America has offered since its birth, saying that it created the frontier belief that America would keep on booming. Shames discusses how this belief is slowly becoming impossible as he states, “We are not facing imminent ruin… but there have been ample indications over the past two decades that we are running out of more.” I can see how Shames thinks that this belief is slowly dying as there are not as many frontiers today as in the past.
