In the book “Lead Like Jesus” by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges they teach us leadership skills from the greatest role model of all time. In all honesty the title of the book is enough to draw people in. It is also all the information in the book wrapped up in three words. This was a great book to read and to learn from. I really appreciated how the book gave me discussion questions to think about and how it was filled with practical examples. Right from the beginning of the book Ken Blanchard had me hooked he stated: “The world is in desperate need of a different leadership role model.” (pg. 3) He goes on to say: “The good news is that there is a better way. There is one perfect leadership role model you can trust, and his name is Jesus.” (pg.4) I know that may sound like a Sunday School answer. I like to jump in a get things going. I want to take our team from point A to point B quickly and by doing that I thin I make a lot of quick desicions. After reading this book I feel the need and the urgency to slow down and reflect on what Jesus would want and how to lead from the heart. Chapter 6: ‘Why lead like Jesus” taught me about taking care of relationships and the people we serve. Currently serving in The Salvation Army this hit me hard. I started evaluating how we were serving the community in which our corps is located. I feel that we are doing a great job however, I feel (after reading the book) that we could do a whole lot better. Simply put ‘Servant Leadership provides better leadership.” (pg. 198) This book was a a great way for me to learn. I felt this may have been the best book I have read over the last twelve weeks. My prayer is that I will be more and more like Jesus in my leadership and that the things I learn from this class and future class will transform me more into the leader Christ wants me to
