Leadership can be a difficult task with all the pressures they are faced with day to day. They are not only in charge of their employees, but part of the company as well to make sure everything is getting done to make it successful. Missions and tasks in the military change all the time; it is a forever evolving door. Our leadership needs to make sure they understand all the changes that are going on and properly relay the information down the change of command. After interviewing three of my leaders, it was interesting to hear all of the diverse perceptions of how things have changed and their experiences that they have had along the way. The questions that I asked within the interviews were:
1. How do you keep workers motivated?

John was very receptive in helping me with this assignment. When I was asking all of my questions, he was very attentive and seemed to really put thought in to his answers. John took the questions as if he was on a serious interview and if he would be actually be interviewing for the job at hand. It was motivating to hear John’s answers and how serious he was when I was talking to him. He helped me get the answers I was looking for in a supervisor and how he overcomes major issues within the shop. One of the responses that John gave that really engrossed me in his response was to the question, “Tell me about a conflict that you have faced at work and how you solved it”. The conflict that he faced as a leader was an Airman was coming into work intoxicated daily and also brought alcoholic into the shop. Instead of immediately disciplining the worker, John waited for him to become sober, pulled him aside, and tried to figure out what was going on personally with the Airman. Doug’s personality is entirely on the opposite end of the spectrum of John and Justin. Doug is extremely laid back, is more of a ‘go with the flow” person, and very lazy. Even though a lot of people like Doug, but many people do not work hard for him. He will give out projects to people to complete and they do not always do them because they know that Doug isn’t going to yell. As we were going through the interview questions, there was one question and the answer that stood out to me the most. I asked Doug, “How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?” and he just chuckled at me. He was telling me that there is nothing that important at work to get stressed about and he just didn’t care enough to stress out. He does not think that any job or work project should be a stressful situation and it is that own persons fault if they find it stressful. Doug has the mentality that if a project gets done then great, but if it does not it is no big deal. This then prompted me to ask what he does when higher ranking management comes to talk about the organization and he stated that he has the same mentality with them as he does with young Airman. Also, during the interview, Doug seemed distracted and he also seemed to not care about the questions that I was asking him for class. He played around on his phone and his computer the entire time
