Leadership Self-Assessment Reflection Leadership is a natural and learned characteristic in every civilization. Leadership as a discipline can create and strengthen important skills that are useful in professional careers and personal goals alike. Because of the diverse mix of leadership and follower traits, personalities, and methodology, an important part of leadership development is self-awareness. Self-assessments expose and highlight leadership traits, styles, strengths and weaknesses. Through self-assessment discoveries, one can develop methods to adapt and improve leadership skills to aid in personal and professional goals. Through self-assessments, I found that I have a high potential for leadership and my strongest leadership personalities are, in order of relevancy, conscientiousness, surgency, and adjustment. The lessor of my main leadership personalities are open to experience and agreeableness. I learned that I have strong leadership traits and that I have the potential for improvement with other leadership traits. The traits I am strong in are dependability, integrity, and energy/determination that are traits in the conscientiousness and surgency leadership personality domains. One way to classify motivational factors into two categories is with intrinsic and extrinsic. Meaning, motivators can be internal or external. I found that I place much more value with motivating factors compared to maintenance factors as somewhat important to me. This result shows that I value intrinsic motivators of meeting esteem and self-actualization, recognition of achievements, and advancement needs of my followers for sources of motivation. Although pay, benefits, and job security is also important to me as extrinsic value I provide for motivation, they are not as important as intrinsic motivators, in my
