To start off in driving a car, you must learn the rules and regulations on road signs and road rules. To do this, you must read the drivers handbook. This type of learning is called operant learning because the subject associates the drivers handbook with what he or she will do when One particular skill that I have learned through observational learning is learning how to cook. According to Education Portal, Observational learning is a type of learning that happens when a subject observes something, retains what he or she saw and replicates novel behavior executed by others. Its reinforcement has the effect of influencing which responses one will partake in, more than it influences the actual acquisition of the new response. I learned how to cook different types of food using my mom and my family as behavior models. I saw what ingredients they had used, how much they used, how long it took, and saw how and what cooking utensils they used. With seeing this done a couple of times, I committed what I had seen to memory. Then, using motor reproduction and mirror neurons, I attempted to cook what I had seen. What I had seen shaped what I done in making the food. Because of my intrinsic motivation to learn how to cook, I didn't want to make mistake in cooking. Also, I knew that cooking would be helpful in the future when I lived alone. Whenever I did a mistake, I had the punishment of cleaning the kitchen and washing and cleaning the car.
