It is the year of 1945 and I'm 15 years old. The country I am traveling from is Italy.I am choosing to leave Italy because the World War II is happening and you are fighting in it and the farm isn't doing so well.We sold all the goats. So all i'm leaving with is cheese to eat on my way to the port. Also I want to leave Italy because I want to meet my mom for the first time. Since I’m leaving Italy I'm going to need to do a couple thing before i leave. The first i need to send my mom a letter saying that I'm leaving to New York. What I’m choosing to bring to New York is a duffle bag with a bed roll, cheese from the farm, and a picture of you. Now it's time to set off and see something new. When we got to Ellis Island health officers would come on the boat to look for diseases and then if the officers said we were cleared they would start checking on. The first and second class but if you're in the third class then you have to wait hours or days to wait for a small ferry boat to take them to ellis island for immigration process. When i first stepped foot on ellis island my thought was wow this is going to take forever i was already waiting for the ferry boat to come now i have to wait to go through everything When i got to the baggage room i got a number my number was 105. I left my duffle bag in the baggage room until i got my inspection was finished. The stair to the registry room took forever the every time the doctor would stop someone because they were walking weird or they had breathing problems. Once you reached the Registry Room they checked for trachoma is a contagious disease where doctors used a tool called buttonhook to lift a person's eyelid to check for the disease. After they checked you and you were cleared you went through a six-second exam and if you got cleared from the doctors if you did like i did you would continue through the metal bars. When you got to the legal inspection you got asked 29 questions. Since i am going to new york i walked on the left side of the aisle in between two metal bars. Then i went to the “kissing”
